Tinari Greenhouses
was established in 1945 by Anne and Frank A. Tinari Sr. for the
purpose of hybridizing and growing award winning African Violets.
This cultivar was fairly new to the plant world; so the Tinaris
made it their life work to teach and promote the joys of growing
this unique plant.
1947 prove
to be a memorable year. The Tinaris introduced the African
Violet for the first time at the Philadelphia Flower Show. The publics
interest was peaked and soon the African Violet became the number
one houseplant. Later that year, Anne Tinari attended the first
convention of the newly formed African Violet Society of America
in Atlanta, Georgia. In subsequent years both she and Frank Sr.
served as president of this prestigious organization. During this
time, additional greenhouses were built to house all of the newly
created varieties of violets.
Lilianne and
Frank Jr. joined the business in the early sixties. A Christmas
Trees and Greens Department was added in 1968. Franks wife,
Dee joined the company in 1977.
The tradition
continues with growing and selling quality violets, orchids, and
seasonal plants. Our top priority is providing quality products
and excellent customer service.
